Couchsurfing in Bogota

It's not always sunshine on the other side of the world. The last month my thyroid is teasing me. I guess it's because of the traveling to different heights and temperatures that causes problems of an out of balance hormonal situation. I almost thought of going home and missed friends and family more then ever. But in the Netherlands the doctor can't do much neither, so I decided to stay, went to the hospital to test my blood and find a acupunturist to get things back in shape. Hopefully it will work....

In couchsurfing I saw a very interesting profile of a Colombian guy of 50 years old. Pedro, who is president of "I believe in Colombia". I wrote him a mail and I could stay a night at his house. It was like a big museum of stuff from all over Colombia. He gave me a tour of an hour in his house with great histories. A wonderfull start to learn more about the country.
Colombia had a lot of negative press the last decades. But right now it's one of the safest countries in Latin America. (As long as you don't go into the mountains in the south were the FARC lives). It has the most variety of nature, colorfull people and improved much in the economy. He is trying to give the Colombians there proud back. More then a thousand volunteers work for him. He invited me to one of his conferences of "yo creo en Colombia". It was an amazing experience. He turned out to be a positive, famous and very wise "Emile Ratelband".
The second couchsurfing experience was with the sweetest girl ever. Viviana. It felt like being with a good friend from the beginnig. Never saw more hospitality. I could stay for 4 days in her house where she lived with her parents. She put a small matress for me next to her bed, which filled the whole bedroom and made a great breakfast every morning. People are right. Colombians are the sweetest people.
