It's amazing how friendly and polite the Colombian people are. Every day I'm confronted with it. All the time (in supermarkets, between friends) they use in their sentences...si mi amor (yes my love), si princesa, si mi vida or si señora. It's also normal here to use niña or niño in stead of chica or chico which they use in Central America. Good thing is you feel 10 years younger when they call you niña.... When you stay with people they always say "mi casa es tu casa" "my house is your house" and "caulquiera cosa necesitas, dime por favor" "Whatever you need, please tell me"
A great example how friendly the people over here are: This weekend I went with a señora of 60 years to a finca three hours from Bogotá. It's a beautiful green part of Colombia and lays in the llano (lowlands) and is 10 degrees warmer and 2000 meter lower then the capital. I knew Doña Fabiola from a conference and we exchanged a few words for only 5 minutes. She wrote me an email and invited me to come with her to her finca in Villavicencio. I was so surprised after a amazing trip between the mountains to arrive in a finca with a very big pool and room for 22 persons. All the beds were filled up with friends and family. They made a great party in the night with the local drink here aquardiente (like ouzo, yak) and beer. Swimming in the night with a drink and dancing salsa and latin music untill 3 am outside and tasting all kinds of great food of the region. I left a day earlier then the rest and they didn't want to let me go. I had to promise to return for at least three or four days so they can show me more of Colombia.
Life is wonderful over here. Every day there are so many things to do that it is hard to choose.
Yesterday I went to the biggest outside rock concert with a group of couchsurfing. There were 100.000 persons who came to this free concert.
